Product of the Month: Free Pattern Downloads
July 19, 2013
The best things in life are free. Though the originator probably indented to refer to "things" like love, family and nature, I have decided instead that this famous coloquilism refers to free sewing and knitting patterns. And why not? It fits perfectly. My product of the month for July is our selection of Free Pattern Downloads by HotPatterns, Create Kids Couture and your very own, Tara Miller (that's me!). You can find our collection in the Creativity Heaquarters along with many other products and ideas that are sure to give you a reason to lock yourself in your craft room for hours.
I have long overlooked this month's Product of the Month for no other reason than because it is free. However, many of my ideas and patterns start with one of our Free Pattern Downloads. I love the unlimited access they offer so should inspiration strike I only need to print off the pattern that suits my needs best any time, anywhere. If one of my daughters needs a new dress, romper, shorts, etc for a upcoming special occasion, I don't need to wait on delivery or round everyone into the car just to fetch a pattern. Having a great selection of free pattern makes it easier to work from my stash (though I often work with one stash fabric and purchase the rest because I am easily distracted, like new things and fast shipping). Being that our free pattern downloads are, well, free they are often more simple than purchased patterns but that is OK because simple lends its self to embellishments, modifications and unchecked creativity. Here are just a few of my interpretations of our free pattern downloads: Allison's Pillowcase Dress (see above), Taylor's Pj Pants, Aiden's Shorts, Flutterby Tank, & Nancy Dress Maxi Skirt. Those are just a few of them! If I'm to be honest I will also confess that I love the fabric recommendations that come with each pattern. I often find fabric there that I had missed and is perfect for an entirely different project or is just right for the free pattern I'm downloading. Even though when I plan to modify a free pattern and work from my stash (and I do intend just that every time) it never truly works out. The selection of patterns offered are great for any wardrobe, occasion or craving. Should you need a great, versatile dress try the Cabriolet wrap or Nancy Dress. Peasant top, may I suggest the Gypsophelia. PJs, consider the Retro Playsuit.
Finally, don't forget our wonderful knitting patterns. It is just about time to start planning your Christmas knitting projects!!
