The Fabric Maverick says... Romance is not dead, it is just on vacation!
February 3, 2009
February is one of those dreary months that need all the help it can get. It is the last burst of winter. I always feel sorry for people whose birthdays are in February. I just can't seem to get excited about their birthdays and I do have some good friends whose birthdays fall in February. To them I say I am so sorry, but can you move your birthday to March? Valentine's Day is the one shining star in all the days of February. I have declared that the colors of February should be red, pink and white. Red is the color of power and energy. White is the color of joy. Pink even makes the Fabric Maverick sweet and adorable. Those two adjectives are not usually applied to me.
Romance is not dead. Prevention magazine took a survey about spending money. People who bought jewelry, clothes, shoes, etc did not feel as content as those who shared a meal or activity together. In my experience, I remember those times I spent with someone and not what gifts they bought. I would be interested in knowing if you agree or disagree with me so let me know your feelings about this topic. Are you interested in shared times or do you want bling bling? I, personally, expand Valentine's Day to all my favorite people that I care about. To start your month off to a good start, I am going to show you the quilt Kathy (the tool lady) made over the weekend. It is made from one jelly roll and some coordinating fabrics for the border. She used Moda's Love is in the Air collection. She belongs to a "stripping" club. We have similar patterns in the Jelly Roll Quilts book.
Here is a picture of Kathy's quilt top:
